William F. Buckley, Jr. (1925-2008)

No matter where you sit on the political spectrum, only the small-minded and single issue freaks would fail to acknowledge that Bill Buckley was a powerful intellect, one of the most influential writer-thinkers of the last century, and a true Renaissance Man. A class act on a level with Voltaire and Disraeli. Everyone has lost a mega-smart if patrician friend--and one who respected language and loved ideas.

One thing we know is that there will not be a long line of people waiting for a pew because Buckley made their lives better.

That is truly a sad testament. It will surely be recorded that he wasted all his potential.

Once a decade a funny line but nothing of merit or substance. Libraries don't even stock any of his 50 titles.

As for influence, where? Quick, what fundamental proposition did he originate and move into action on the public square?

in sum, just Fox propaganda
